how to do it :: eight ways to tie a scarf

Hello Lovelies! I ran across this lovely post by Amanda from Whit and Whistle and if you happen to love scarfs as much as we do, you’ll be sure to put these eight ways to good use. I think this has just made us want to go out and find more scarves for our collection! Thanks Amanda!

diy :: book shelves

If you happen to have several beloved books lying around your home that you’ve already read and you can’t find anything cool to do with them, then try this project on for size. It only takes three steps to transform your favorite hardback novel into a permanent fixture on your wall!
Step 1) Look for leather bound books that have gorgeous spines
Step 2)Buy two sets of brackets, using one set for below the books and a single bracket for above. Measure the thickness of each book and start drilling.
Step 3) Slide each book between the top and bottom brackets before placing light-weight objects on it. Voila! You’ve got yourself some brand new shelves by your favorite authors!

my lovely valentine exchange
It’s that time of year again and I’m so excited! I know, I know… sometimes Valentine’s Day can suck, that is true, but not this year because I am declaring it the year of handmade happiness! That being said I would like to announce the 1st “My Lovely Valentine” Exchange. I participated this past Christmas in a holiday ornament exchange and it was so much fun and I thought why not extend that excitement over to Valentine’s Day! Besides, I remember how much fun it was in grade school to create handmade Valentine’s Day cards to give to my friends and teachers and felt it would be great to make something crafty for someone across the country! Besides…isn’t your mailbox a little lonely since Christmas is over? I know mine is. So get those glue guns ready, pull out the glitter, prep your scissors and start up your design software! Here is what you’ll need to do to be involved in spreading some love!

To be included, email me at eversolovelyblog [at] gmail.com by January 21 the following information:
1) Your Name
2) Your Mailing Address (where you want your cards to be sent)
3) Your Email Address
4) Your Blog (if you have one)
5) Your Twitter Handle (if you have one)
**Also, please put MY LOVELY VALENTINE EXCHANGE in the subject of your email.**
By January 28th I will send you an email with addresses up to five new friends. You’ll then start getting crafty and create some handmade valentines to send out. Ones that can be easily duplicated are best since you have several to send out, unless you want to make different designs.
Have them ready to mail out by Monday February 7th to allow enough time to arrive to your new friends! Then, grab a cup or two of coco, sit back and wait for some Valentines to come your way! I hope you’ll participate and share some love!

diy :: pretty couch cover up

If you are like me and have cats that tend to sharpen their nails on your couch and you don’t know what to do to remedy the damage then look no further. Amy Gross came up with this fabulous idea of covering up couch claw marks with flea market doilies and I have to say this is FABULOUS!!! Even if I didn’t have the scratch marks on my furniture I think this concept is Anthropologie worthy! However, I do think my husband might be shocked when he comes home to find I’ve appliqued doilies to our love seat. Thanks so much Amy for sharing!
