Design Tuesday over at SavorNC Magazine

Ever So Lovely Blog with Denee' Black at Designbox

Happy Tuesday lovelies! Be sure to check out my interview with Raleigh Artist and Designer Denee’ Black over on SavorNC Magazine’s blog. Black was the exhibiting artist this past First Friday at Designbox and her newest collection of paintings were inspired from visits to the State Farmer’s Market. I got my husband to snag a quick photo of Erin Conigliaro (pictured left) who curated Black’s show with Beth Khalifa (not pictured), myself and the talented Denee’ before it got too busy! You can read all about her new exhibit and where she’ll be exhibiting next here.

first friday = 100 hearts, painted ladies & lovely birds

Happy Friday all! It’s pretty rainy and cold here in Raleigh but if you are looking for something fun to do tonight be sure to stop by Artspace. It’s First Friday and they have a ton of art to take in plus you get the chance to visit the artists’ studios and talk with them directly about their work.

If you happen to be looking for that perfect Valentine’s Day gift why not give art to someone you love this year? Eric McRay of McRay Studios is another fabulous artist who is upstairs in Artspace. He has an opening tonight for his sweet series of paintings -  100 Hearts: Art is for Lovers.

Not only is Artspace full of local talent from North Carolina but tonight is pretty special! It is the first official First Friday for Janelle Howington. She was recently awarded the Regional Emerging Artist in Residence and will be working in her new studio (#108)! I was lucky enough to get a chance to sit down and talk with Janelle about her amazing artwork! You’ll get to learn more about her on my Design Tuesday post for Savor NC Magazine this coming Tuesday!

garrett scales show

One of my favorite artists Garrett Scales, who you might remember from my interview last year, has a couple of his gorgeous paintings on exhibit. He was the last Regional Emerging Artist-in-Residence at Artspace and this is his follow up show titled Where The Wyld Things Are. If you have never seen his work up close and in person, you have to! It’s quite extraordinary and I’ve promised myself I will have own of his originals in my home at some point – I just have to find the wall space since they are quite large.

So there you have it! Get out and support local artists and buy some art for your Valentine this year! Artspace will be open for First Friday tonight until 10PM. Happy weekend all!
